Since 2003, SOHAR has formed deep and enduring bonds with the local community and has helped to transform the port city through a range of social, cultural and economic initiatives. This is the place where you’ll discover the many SOHAR Port and Freezone projects and initiatives that have helped bring about positive change.

Skills development, cultural activities, sports and health, and environmental issues are high on our agenda. We work closely with local schools, Government agencies, and businesses to contribute to sustainable growth, and promote an inclusive and thriving community.

A Partnership for Prosperity

The Chief Executive of SOHAR, André Toet, and Dr Ali Hassan Al-Lawati, the Dean of the College of Applied Science in Sohar, have signed a partnership that will help secure the sustainable development of the Sultanate and future economic prosperity of the region. The deal gives local students the opportunity to take part in seminars, workshops and short-term training programs; and work on research related to both parties.
As one of the fastest growing Port and Freezone developments in the world, SOHAR has access to cutting edge technology. The partnership outlines SOHAR’s commitment to education and vocational training through scholarships; student development programs; health and sports programs.
